Next Thursday, 29 October, the Faculty of Theology Saint Isidore of Seville will host the 3rd ‘Juan Guillén’ Conference on Biblical Studies, organised by the Department of Sacred Scripture. On this occasion, the conference will feature Cardinal Giuseppe Betori, Archbishop Emeritus of Florence, who will deliver a lecture entitled ‘Persecution on the path of the Word according to the Acts of the Apostles’.
The event will take place at 12.00 pm in the Faculty’s Juan Guillén Lecture Theatre, and will provide an opportunity to explore in greater depth the testimony of the early Christian communities through the Book of Acts, with a particular focus on persecution and its relationship to the spread of the Word of God.
Cardinal Betori’s presence holds special significance for the Faculty, which, on 30 January, awarded him an honorary doctorate, jointly with the Theological Faculty of Central Italy, as part of the academic ceremonies held to mark the feast day of Saint Thomas Aquinas. With this latest visit, the institution has the opportunity to renew its ties with a member of its academic community and to continue to benefit from his contributions in the fields of exegesis and theology.
The 3rd ‘Juan Guillén’ Biblical Studies Conference forms part of the academic activities organised by the Department of Sacred Scripture, with the aim of promoting the study, reflection and deeper understanding of biblical texts.
The Faculty invites lecturers, students, priests, members of religious orders, seminarians and anyone interested in the study of Sacred Scripture to take part in this day of formation and fellowship.
