Since 2011, the Higher Institute of Religious Sciences St. Isidore and St. Leander  seeks to provide adequate theological formation to the Christian lay faithful, religious men and women, called to various services and responsibilities in the evangelizing mission of the Church, as well as candidates for the permanent diaconate. As an institute of the Faculty of Theology Saint Isidore of Seville, the Higher Institute of Religious Sciences St. Isidore and St. Leander receives from it its patronage, with which the Faculty becomes a guarantor before the Dicastery for Culture and Education of the academic level and the suitability of the studies that are taught.

The Higher Institute of Religious Sciences St. Isidore and St. Leander  awards the Bachelor’s Degree in Religious Studies and Licentiate in Religious Studies with ecclesiastical validity and civil confirmation. The recipients of these studies are pastoral agents committed to the evangelizing action of the Church, religion teachers, religious, permanent deacons, catechists, educators, members of Brotherhoods and Confraternities, as well as university students interested in the study of the religious phenomenon.

As regular students, those who, fulfilling the requirements for admission to the Spanish University and fully following the courses and activities of the Institute, can enroll in tests or exams in order to obtain the corresponding academic degrees. Audit students are those who, not being able or not wishing to access the official degrees, follow totally or partially the studies of the Institute, without undergoing the tests to obtain a certificate of attendance.
