Mariology Day

Among the aims of the Chair of Mariology at the Faculty of Theology Saint Isidore of Seville  is the organization of Conferences on mariological and Marian themes, that is, on matters related to the Mother of the Lord from the perspective of theological reflection and popular devotion. In this sense, the focus of the Conferences is not only academic but also pastoral, considering the importance of Marian devotion in our region and the need to appreciate it from the dual perspective emphasized by the post-conciliar pontifical magisterium: promotion and renewal.

The Mariology Conferences are thus offered as a research space on the figure of the Virgin Mary, for which current topics or specific anniversaries are chosen. These topics are announced a year in advance, and professors and specialists in the field are invited to participate. Accordingly, the subjects studied often connect Mariology with the broader scope of theological disciplines: Sacred Scripture, Christology, Soteriology, Liturgy, Pneumatology, Ecclesiology, Anthropology, Eschatology or Spirituality.

Held in the Chair Lecture Hall of the Faculty of Theology, the conferences are intended for professors, students (especially those studying theology, history, and art), religious members, catechists, other pastoral agents, and anyone devoted to the Virgin Mary.

The Mariology Workshops take place annually, in April or May, in an intensive format on a single day, typically in the morning. Various topics are presented by professors or specialists, followed by a dialogue between them and the attendees.

VI (year 2026): The Mariology of J. Ratzinger-Benedict XVI

V (year 2025): The Assumption of Mary. Seventy-five years after its dogmatic definition

IV (year 2024): The Veneration of the Mother of the Lord. On the Fiftieth Anniversary of Marialis Cultus.

III (year 2023): The Virgin Mary in the Time of Ferdinand and Alfonso.

II (year 2022): The Virgin Mary, Mediatrix of All Graces.

I (year 2021): The Mother of the Lord in Saint John of Ávila.
