Admission to the faculty

All Catholic faithful (clergy, religious, consecrated persons, or laypeople) who meet the enrollment requirements set by the Faculty of Theology Saint Isidore of Seville for the studies they intend to pursue may apply for admission as students. (cf. Veritatis gaudium, art. 31). The admission of non-Catholic students will be governed by the norms established in Church law.

The conditions for admission to the various centers of the Faculty of Theology Saint Isidore of Seville are those established in Article 29 of the Statutes of the Faculty of Theology San Isidoro of Seville. The application for enrollment must be submitted to the General Secretary’s Office within the deadlines indicated in the annual academic calendar, which will be published in the corresponding academic agenda.

Students may be admitted to the Faculty if they are suitable from the point of view of their life and habits, as well as their previous studies.

∫1. Enrolment as an ordinary student requires the possession of a university entrance qualification, in accordance with the regulations of the Holy See and Spanish law. If the candidate is a foreigner, the degree will be required with the appropriate international recognition, in accordance with the canonical and civil regulations in force.

∫2. In any case, the Faculty has the right and the duty to examine whether all the disciplines considered necessary by the Faculty itself have been studied, and the President may prescribe the courses he/she deems necessary to reach the level required for admission (Normas aplicativas, 26, ∫ 3).

∫3. The Faculty of Theology reserves the right to check, as determined in its Regulations, whether students have the required sufficient knowledge of the Latin language, biblical languages and modern foreign languages (V.G., 32 ∫ 2).

∫4. In order to enter the first cycle of studies, it is required to have passed the programme of subjects of the biennium of philosophical studies or its equivalent in the philosophical-theological quinquennium.

∫5. Access to the second cycle of studies requires having previously obtained the Baccalaureatus degree, or equivalent.

∫6. Access to the third cycle of studies requires the prior award of the degree of Licentiatus, or equivalent.

In addition to meeting the requirements established by current legislation for access to university studies, by providing documentary evidence, and the norms set by the Statutes of the Faculty of Theology Saint Isidore of Seville for student admission, the specific regulations of the academic centers may establish specific admission conditions for each study cycle and the period of enrollment as a student entitled to the Licentiate/Master’s and Doctoral cycles.

It is the responsibility of the Secretary General’s Office of the Faculty to prepare the standardized models for all internal procedures for admission and enrollment of students. The academic agenda and the Academic Secretary’s Office will provide adequate information on the documents required for admission and enrollment, and on the processing procedures.

• • Properly completed enrollment application form.
  • Receipt of payment for the enrollment fee.

  Additionally, for first-time enrollment:

  • Certificate of the EvAU (University Entrance Exam) or equivalent university access.
  • Certificate of studies completed at other Faculties of Theology or affiliated centers.
  • Copy of the ID card.
  • A passport-sized photo.
  • Letter of recommendation from the respective Superior, if the applicant is a seminarian or religious.
  • Official certificate of a second language (minimum level: B1).

The Faculty may establish specific tests for student admission, particularly for knowledge of the Spanish language. Students coming from non-Spanish-speaking countries must provide proof, with an officially recognized certificate, of their knowledge of the Spanish language at the level set by the Faculty Board. The specific requirements for this admission will be detailed in the academic agenda.
