Foundation
The Faculty of Theology Saint Isidore of Seville, in accordance with its objectives described in the Statutes and with the sponsorship of the Congregation of the Servants of the Divine Heart, assumed the “Blessed Cardinal Marcelo Spínola” Chair of Church History in Andalusia, founded at the Center for Theological Studies of Seville on March 19, 2007.

Objectives
The objectives of the Chair of Church History in Andalusia are:

The primary goal of the Chair is to evaluate, research, and promote the History of the Church in Andalusia. Secondly, the Chair aims to create a specialized bibliographic collection on the History of the Church in Andalusia, in collaboration with the  Benedict XVI Library and the periodical publications of the Faculty of Theology Saint Isidore of Seville. Thirdly, the Chair seeks to maintain contact with all institutions—universities, dioceses, religious congregations, seminaries, archives, etc.—that research or promote the history of the Church in Andalusia.

Main activities of the Chair
Organization of the Church History in Andalusia Conferences (number XX) and publication of the Faculty’s journal: Yearbook of the History of the Church in Andalusia (June 2026: Volume XIX).
