Benedict XVI Library

The old collection is made up of printed material published between the end of the 19th century and the end of the 20th century. XV and early s. XX, more rare and curious specimens. The collection currently comprises approximately eleven thousand volumes, among which the four incunabula and almost five hundred volumes printed in the sixteenth century, including the Complutense Polyglot Bible, stand out.

The contemporary collection is made up of printed material published in the 20th and 21st centuries. It is estimated that some seventy thousand volumes are in deposit, including the magnificent collection of the Corpus Christianorum, with its Series Latina, Series Graeca and Continuatio Mediaevalis. This collection is increased annually with the acquisitions made by the Director of the Library.

The periodicals, on the other hand, consist of about 1,600 titles, including exchange magazines, subscriptions and those belonging to the collection of the Biblioteca Capitular Nova.

The catalog can be consulted through the website of the Center for Theological Studies. For the bibliographic records of the collections, the international ISBD standards are applied, ISBD(A) in the case of the Old Collection. The computerized catalog uses a MARC format program suitable for library work. The Library offers free consultation of its collections to all researchers who need to work with this material.
