The Faculty of Theology Saint Isidore of Seville, through its Chair of Canon and Ecclesiastical Law, is collaborating with the Faculty of Law at the University of Seville to organise the 5th Conference on Human Rights and the Social Doctrine of the Church, which this year will be entitled “Dilexi te: love for the poor”.
The event will take place on Thursday 16 April 2026 in the Lecture Hall of the Faculty of Law at the University of Seville, and will begin at 9.30 am with the opening ceremony, at which the following speakers will take part: Prof. Dr. Fernando Llano Alonso, Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Seville; Prof. Dr Alfonso de Julios Campuzano, Head of the Department of Philosophy of Law at the University of Seville; Mr Pablo Guija Rodríguez, Diocesan Delegate for University Pastoral Care; and the co-directors of the conference, Prof. Dr Manuel Palma Ramírez and Prof. Dr Álvaro A. Sánchez Bravo.
The conference, coordinated by Prof. Dr. Jesús Ignacio Delgado Rojas, will be organised into four thematic sections:
First session (10.00–10.45 am): “Ecclesial Tradition and Originality in *Dilexit te*”, featuring Prof. Dr Manuel Palma Ramírez, Dean of the Faculty of Theology Saint Isidore of Seville, and Prof. Dr Jesús Ignacio Delgado Rojas, from the Department of Philosophy of Law at the Faculty of Law, University of Seville.
Second session (10.45–11.30 am): “Christology and love for the poor”, presented by Prof. Dr Álvaro Román Villalón, Vice-President of the Faculty of Theology Saint Isidore of Seville, and Prof. Dr David Sánchez Rubio, from the Department of Philosophy of Law at the University of Seville.
Third session (12.00–12.45): “The Church’s social teaching on poverty”, with presentations by Prof. D. Manuel Dana Nuevo, Deputy Secretary-General of the Faculty of Theology Saint Isidore of Seville, and Prof. Dr Álvaro A. Sánchez Bravo, from the Department of Philosophy of Law at the University of Seville.
Fourth session (12.45–13.30): “The Biblical Dimension of Poverty”, featuring Prof. Dr Isaac Moreno Sanz of the “San Leandro” Theological Institute in Huelva and Prof. Dr Carlos López Bravo of the Department of Philosophy of Law at the University of Seville.
The closing ceremony, scheduled for 1.30 pm, will be led by Mr Iván Parrilla y Rojas, Managing Director of Editorial Alma Mater.
