At the last ordinary meeting of the Board of Deans of Theology of Spain and Portugal, held at the headquarters of the Pontifical University of Comillas, the governing body of the institution was renewed in accordance with the statutes governing its operation.
During the meeting, Ignacio Carbajosa, Dean of the Faculty of Theology at the San Dámaso Ecclesiastical University in Madrid, who had served as Vice-President for the past year, was appointed President for one year.
Manuel Palma, dean of the Faculty of Theology Saint Isidore of Seville, was appointed vice-president. For the last three years, he had served as secretary of the Board (2022-2025), actively contributing to the coordination of work and the articulation of joint projects between the faculties of both countries. The appointment is in line with the internal system whereby the vice-presidency lasts for one academic year, at the end of which the vice-president assumes the presidency for another year.
Román Pardo, dean of the Faculty of Theology at the Pontifical University of Salamanca, was elected to the position of secretary, which carries a three-year term. He will be responsible for organisation, document custody and monitoring of the academic initiatives promoted by the Board.
The Board of Deans of Theology of Spain and Portugal thus continues its work of strengthening institutional collaboration and promoting theological research in the Iberian Peninsula, ensuring an orderly transition and renewed leadership for the coming academic cycles.
