The IV Conference on Human Rights and the Social Doctrine of the Church, organised by the Faculty of Law in collaboration with the Chair of Canon and Ecclesiastical Law of the Faculty of Theology Saint Isidore of Seville, was held at the Faculty of Law of the University of Seville on Friday 21 February.
Under the title ‘The Jubilee of Hope’, the event brought together experts in law, philosophy and theology to reflect on the importance of the Jubilee in the Christian tradition and its impact on today’s society. Throughout the day, topics such as the Bull Spes non confundit, the history and tradition of the Jubilee, its ethical dimension and its ecclesiological significance were discussed.
The inaugural session was chaired by Fernando Llano, Dean of the Faculty of Law, and Monsignor Ramón Valdivia, Auxiliary Bishop of Seville and Director of the Chair of Canon and Ecclesiastical Law. Afterwards, the different speakers, professors with doctorates from both faculties, spoke on the subjects under study and offered an in-depth analysis of the Jubilee of Hope from different perspectives.
The conference concluded with the intervention of Iván Parrilla y Rojas, general director of Editorial Alma Mater, who put the finishing touch to an enriching meeting for all those present.
