The Department of Sacred Scripture of the Faculty of San Isidoro in Seville is organising the 1st ‘Juan Guillén’ Bible Day. It does so in grateful memory of the former professor of the Centre for Theological Studies who did so much good for the knowledge of the Bible in many generations of priests, religious and lay people during his many years of teaching, while at the same time promoting future teachers. With his particular style, in addition to teaching how to read the Bible, he awakened in everyone a deep love for the Word of God. The Faculty of Theology, through the Department of Sacred Scripture, wishes to perpetuate and honour the memory of such a distinguished professor and lover of Sacred Scripture.
Next Thursday, 21 November, at 12:00 noon, this first conference will take place in the Aula de Cátedras of our Faculty, under the title ‘Genesis reread’.. This inaugural event will be attended by prominent professors and specialists in Sacred Scripture, who will address the following topics:
- “The new heavens and the new earth in Isaiah ’ – Dr. Miguel Ángel Garzón Moreno, CO, of the San Isidoro Faculty of Theology in Seville.
- “Genesis 1-2 in the Pauline letters ’ – Dr. Álvaro Pereira Delgado, of the San Isidoro Faculty of Theology, Seville.
- “The Creation Story in the Jewish and Christian Mysticism of Late Antiquity ’ – Dr. José Antonio Antón Pacheco, from the University of Seville.
We invite the entire academic community and all those interested in the study of Holy Scripture to join this in the study of Sacred Scripture to join in this day of celebration to celebrate the memory of Professor Juan Guillén and to deepen our knowledge of the Bible.
