Yesterday, a collaboration agreement was signed between the Illustrious and Lasallian Sacramental Brotherhood and Confraternity of Nazarenes of the Holy Cross, Sacred Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Our Lady of the Dawn, Mary Most Holy of Love, Saint John Baptist de la Salle and Saint Marina and the Faculty of Theology Saint Isidore of Seville. As a result of this agreement, the ‘Juan Miguel Rivas de Dios’ Scholarship was created, through which the Brotherhood of the Resurrection will offer an annual grant to cover the full costs of enrolment in the official cycles of the Faculty, aimed at students with financial needs.
This scholarship pays tribute to Juan Miguel Rivas de Dios, diocesan priest of the Archdiocese of Seville, born in Dos Hermanas (Seville). He was appointed chaplain of the Colegio de los Hermanos de las Escuelas Cristianas in 1985, when he began to have a relationship with the Brotherhood. On 12 February 1986 he was appointed spiritual director of the corporation, a position he held until 2007. He became a member of the cathedral of Seville by competitive examination and later, after the simplification of the cathedral clergy by the Most Reverend Carlos Cardinal Amigo Vallejo, he was appointed canon of the cathedral. The life of Don Juan Miguel Rivas de Dios was always linked to music: author of numerous compositions, above all dedicated to the Blessed Virgin, he composed for the Brotherhood the ‘Coplas a Jesús Resucitado’ and the ‘Virgen de la Aurora’. He created a choir made up of sisters and brothers who solemnised the services and performed recitals of Christmas carols. He has been the longest-serving spiritual director. He was named honorary spiritual director.

The creation of the “Juan Miguel Rivas de Dios ’ Scholarship will allow students in financial need to access studies, contributing to the academic and spiritual growth of our community. This noble gesture not only supports those who need it most, but also perpetuates the legacy of a figure like Don Juan Miguel Rivas de Dios.
